Mudroom Possibilities
Convert the Office Nook Into a Mudroom
An easy, practical solution, that leaves the interiors exactly as is. Mount a bench on the inside of the door and add some hooks above. Design the bench so it can fold up, that way the door can still completely close and hide whatever storage you may have in there. The room is wide enough to fit a double-wide stroller and still have space for additional storage. (Door is nearly 4’ wide and the internal nook is nearly 7’ wide as it extends under the stairs.) Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
Hallway Closets Become a Mudroom
There are six deep closets in the hallway. One could convert the first three closets into an open mudroom and storage space. The first closet currently contains IT equipment. However, you can run the home network today with only a fraction of the existing hardware. So, one could gain back a whole closet and combine the three closets to create this beautiful mudroom.
6th Floor Landing Becomes a Mudroom
The private key-locked elevator stops at each floor of the penthouse: 5th, 6th, and Roof. The 6th floor landing today is barely used. It only contains a console table with mirror above for aesthetics. This unused space is a great option to convert to a mudroom. The family arrives on the 6th floor, drops off their belongings, and can then head downstairs via the elevator or staircase. Or, they could go right outside to the family terrace on a nice day. Or, right into the primary suite. There is also a door that closes between the primary suite and this mudroom, so the primary still has complete privacy and separation. Guests can arrive on either the 5th or 6th floor - it’s all your call.
Cellar Storage Unit Becomes a Mudroom
The penthouse comes with the largest private storage unit in the building. At approximately 60 square feet, it’s a great space for storage. It’s also a great space for a mudroom. The cellar is immaculately clean and given that the residential building only has five tenants, it has a very ‘homey’ feel. So, when a family arrives home, the routine can be to head downstairs, drop off your stroller and shoes, and take the private elevator right up into your home, free of any baggage. The mudroom possibilities are endless.
